Resurrection Attends Conference
Approximately 50 parishioners from Resurrection Parish traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana, to participate in the annual Archbishop James Patterson Lyke Conference. The Lyke Conference is a Roman Catholic liturgical conference whose focus is to enhance worship through enculturation and education in an environment that is richly African-American and authentically Catholic. The conference began with the Fr. Clarence Rivers Music and Dance Institute on Thursday, June 17, and concluded with a Eucharistic Liturgy on Sunday, June 21.
Our Pastoral Music staff: W. Clifford Petty, Amon Robinson and Michael McDonald presented workshops during the conference. The United Voices of Resurrection Choir and the Resurrection Youth Liturgical Dance Team also rendered stellar performances at the Kuumba Celebration. Administrative Assistant Michelle Coe and parishioners Katrina Bryant, and Caro Stanford also served as lectors, during the Liturgies and Prayer services. The youth group had a wonderful opportunity to tour New Orleans and learn about the history of the Roman Catholic Church there. This conference proved to be very educational, spiritual and uplifting to all who attended.
