Students Shine at Black History Program

If you went by the school last week you might have thought you were in a broadway theatre rehearsal.  Music and drama instructor Michael McDonald was busy coordinating 45 young people in an intricate interpretation of James Weldon Johnson's poem "The Creation".  Friday Febuary 26th all the hard work paid off.  In front of parents and faculty the students of Resurrection Catholic Mission wowed the audience with their theatrical talents.

The program began with Mrs. Arrington Pre K class reciting a poem.  That was followed by Miss Hawkins first graders interpretation of "Think it Through" by Marie Evans.  Mrs. Brown's second grade class performed a choral reading of "A Thousand Strong" by Joan Nichols.  Mrs. Brown's third graders marched in from the back of the gym singing "Siyahamba- We are Marching in the Light of God" led by Resurrection Pastoral Musician Clifford Petty.  Mr. Coe's 7th grade class performed "A Rock Cry Out For You" by Maya Angelou.  The program ended with "The Creation" and an interpretive dance.
