A Lasting ImpressionThe following is a letter sent by Spring Valley High School student, Kevin Boller to Father Williams. Dear Father Williams, I am part of the Spring Valley High School and I really enjoyed and appreciated our tour of the south. Our living quarters in your church were very comfortable and thank you for opening your doors to us. After learning about Rosa Parks I discovered what true persistance is. When I heard James Chaney's story I was introduced to the theme of sacrifice. John Perkins taught me to serve others and the reward will be a peaceful society. Guy and Candace Caravan taught me that song has a power of its own to bring joy and unite. These are the messages I have recieved after a wonderful trip and meeting many people. I have also heard that the Civil Rights Movement is not over and it still has many benchmarks to meet. I want to join in the fight for equality in society in every day of my life. Wishing you all the best and thank you for your hospitality. Sincerely, Kevin Boller (15) Spring Valley High School |
