This week, the staff of Resurrection Catholic Missions of the South has had the pleasure of welcoming a group of more than 30 high school students, their chaperones, and their mission trip leaders all the way from Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

The group, which consists of 32 students and 8 adults, is spending the week in Montgomery for their 2018 Joan Strohmeyer Notre Dame Mission Trip – balancing community service with cultural exploration and learning.

During their time at Resurrection, the students (divided into groups) have performed service across campus and have volunteered at Salvation Army of Montgomery, Milton Road Residence, and Montgomery Children’s Specialty Center.

Students have also had the opportunity to do service at Resurrection Catholic School as both the RCS Summer Enrichment and Summer Feeding Programs run simultaneously.

In their free time, the students have spent their afternoons visiting local sites like the Rosa Parks Museum and the new EJI Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice and have spent their evenings reflecting on how the service they are doing connects to the tenets of their faith and God’s word.
