As the month of March comes to a close, so does the spring session of the 2018 Resurrection Collegiate Volunteer Program. Our final group of students hails from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
The group is comprised of Wellesley staff members Emily Jendzejec and Tiffany Steinwert and participants Maheen Akram, Goretty Chavez, Alyssa Kranc, Grace R. Ming, Astrid Mobley, Lizbeth Salinas-Reyes, Anna Thompson, Gaby Varela, and Caroline Witten.
During their short time at Resurrection, the women of Wellesley had the opportunity to attend our final civil rights and social justice dinner including panelists civil rights activist Jeannie Graetz, Deacon Nathan Williams of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, civil rights protestor Mary Louise Smith Ware, and Equal Justice Initiative program assistant Jonathan Kubakundimana.
Before returning to campus later this week, the students will visit Selma and then spend several days in Atlanta visiting historic sites, engaging with a diverse group of faith communities and grassroots community organizations, and exploring the layered history of the civil rights movement and its enduring figures.
