The 2019 Resurrection Collegiate Volunteer Program continues as we welcome our next group of students from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.

The group is comprised of DePaul staff leader Ashantis Jones, student leader Fiona Baenziger, and participants Christine Augustin, Nicole Axe, Brandon Garcia, Anne Vanessa Kabengele, Andy Klenzman, Yenesis Rivera, and Shawntrice Yarbrough.

During their week at Resurrection, the students will perform service work related to our Mission’s school and Interfaith Community Outreach program. Sunday, the students had the opportunity to attend the Hand In Hand benefit concert held at Resurrection for the victims of this month’s tornadoes in Lee County, Alabama. In their free time, the students will visit local historic sites like the Dexter Parsonage Museum and the Civil Rights Memorial Center and to learn more about locally based organizations like the Equal Justice Initiative.

As always, on Tuesday, the students will attend a dinner where a panel of local civil rights and social justice figures will discuss their connections to some of the region’s most memorable and historic movements and happenings.
